Working together

Do you work with travel agents and tour operators?

Yes, we do. If you plan trips to Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda for your own clients, we would like to hear from you. You would be talking directly to the people who plan and look after the trips. Here are the three ways most conversations start.

You sell safaris

Send us your client’s brief and we will build a tailor-made itinerary with a day-by-day plan and a clear quote. You earn commission of up to 15%. The rate and terms are agreed with you individually before we work together.

Tell us about your agency

You build trips

Putting together a longer journey? Tell us which parts of Kenya, Tanzania or Uganda gorilla trekking you would like us to look after, and we will talk through how we could work together.

Start a conversation

You run something guests love

A lodge, a camp, a safari vehicle, a village visit? Tell us what it is and where it is, and we will see whether it fits the trips we arrange.

Planning your clients’ dates

When to send clients, month by month

The first question most clients ask is “when should we go?” Here is how we answer it, based on our own migration calendar and best-time guides.

Busy, migration in the MaraDry seasonCalving seasonGreen and quietFestive demand
JanuaryHot and dry in Kenya. Calving begins in the southern Serengeti.
FebruaryPeak calving at Ndutu, with strong predator action.
MarchCalving winds down. The last of Kenya’s dry season.
AprilLong rains begin. Fewer visitors and lower rates.
MayGreen, quiet parks and good value.
JuneRains ease and the dry season starts. Herds pass through the Western Corridor.
JulyDry and cool. Herds reach the northern Serengeti, and the first arrive in the Mara.
AugustCrossings and a full Mara. One of the best and busiest months.
SeptemberExcellent river action, with fewer crowds than July and August. Book early.
OctoberThe last herds cross back into Tanzania. Short rains approach late in the month.
NovemberShort rains begin. Fewer visitors and good rates.
DecemberHerds head south to calve. Festive-season demand is high.

Good to know

  • Herds follow the rain, not the calendar, so timing can shift by a few weeks each year. River crossings cannot be guaranteed on any given day.
  • Mara camps fill early for August to October, so we suggest booking several months ahead.
  • For river crossings, we suggest at least three nights in the Mara between July and October.
  • April, May and November are the quieter, better-value months.

Beyond the Mara

  • Amboseli: the dry months, June to October, make wildlife easiest to find. Two nights is a good minimum.
  • Serengeti and Ngorongoro: calving around Ndutu from December to March, and June to October for the northern herds.
  • Gorilla trekking in Uganda: the drier months are June to August and December to February. Peak dates sell out far ahead, so plan early.

A good brief gets you a good first itinerary

  • Who: how many travellers, the ages of any children, and nationalities.
  • Interests: wildlife, birds, photography, culture, the beach, or a special occasion.
  • Length and pace: how many days, and how much time in the vehicle suits the group.
  • Where they like to stay: the style of accommodation your clients enjoy.

Looking after guests

How we look after guests, and the places we visit

Safety and guest care

  • 4×4 vehicles suited to park roads, with pop-up roofs for viewing, and drinking water on drives.
  • An experienced driver-guide leads each trip and explains the rules before each activity.
  • Guests keep at least 20 metres from animals, following Kenya Wildlife Service rules.
  • If a guest becomes ill, the guide can arrange a doctor or a hospital in the nearest town.
  • 24/7 phone support, and WhatsApp contact with a same-day reply.

Responsible travel

  • If a guest asks for more time in conservancies, contact with local guides or a low-impact trip, we plan around it.
  • Guests can ask us about community projects they can support properly.
  • Guests follow Kenya Wildlife Service rules, including plastic-free zones and no littering in parks and reserves.
  • Guests never feed wildlife and stay on the road, because off-road driving damages habitat.
