Rift Valley lakes: the complete guide

Kenya's Great Rift Valley is dotted with lakes, from freshwater Naivasha and Baringo to the soda lakes of Nakuru, Elementaita and Bogoria. Together they offer flamingos, pelicans, hippos, rhinos, hot springs and some of the best birdwatching in Africa. They are easy to reach from Nairobi and work well as the start of a longer safari.

Here is how the lakes differ, and how to plan a visit.
