Your adventure begins in the morning as we leave Nairobi behind and drive north, crossing the equator and watching the lush highlands transform into a dramatic, semi-arid wilderness. Welcome to the Samburu ecosystem. We arrive at the beautiful Samburu Sarova Shaba Lodge just in time for a refreshing welcome drink and a hot lunch. As the afternoon cools, we head out on your first game drive along the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River, watching for elephants bathing in the shallows and crocodiles basking on the banks.
Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sarova Shaba Lodge.
Wake up to the sounds of the African bush and head out early while the air is crisp and the big cats—like leopards and lions—are finishing their night’s hunt. Today, your guide will help you track the Samburu Special Five: rare, beautifully adapted species found only in this northern region, including the long-necked Gerenuk, the striking Reticulated Giraffe, and the Grevy’s Zebra. After a relaxing midday break at the lodge, we venture out again in the late afternoon, watching the setting sun paint the red earth in brilliant shades of gold.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to the arid north and drive south toward the foothills of Mount Kenya. Our destination is the pioneering Ol Pejeta Conservancy, globally renowned for its groundbreaking conservation work. You will check in at the luxurious Sweetwaters Serena Camp, where the dining area overlooks a bustling waterhole. In the afternoon, we explore the conservancy, scanning the bush for your first glimpses of East Africa’s majestic rhinos.
Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Camp.
Today is dedicated to the unique wonders of Ol Pejeta. This conservancy boasts the highest density of wildlife in Kenya outside of the Maasai Mara and is a sanctuary for the endangered Black Rhino. You will also have the rare opportunity to visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where you can see these incredible, rescued primates. Enjoy a full day of thrilling game drives against the breathtaking backdrop of a snow-capped Mount Kenya.
Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Camp.
We enjoy one final morning game drive as we exit the conservancy and begin our descent into the spectacular Great Rift Valley. We arrive at the shores of Lake Naivasha, checking in at the elegant Lake Naivasha Elmer Resort for lunch. The afternoon is yours to customize. You can relax by the pool, or opt for a magical boat ride across the lake to spot wading hippos and soaring fish eagles, followed by a guided walking safari among the gentle giraffes and zebras of Crescent Island.
Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Elmer Resort.
After breakfast, we pack up the 4×4 and head toward Kenya’s most famous wildlife theatre: the Maasai Mara National Reserve. We drive past dormant volcanoes and vast wheat fields, arriving at the fantastic Zebra Plains Camp in time for a hearty lunch. By mid-afternoon, you will be out on the rolling savannah. The Mara is famous for its staggering density of predators; keep your cameras ready for lions, cheetahs, and leopards hiding in the golden grass.

Today, there is no rushing and no schedule—just you and the wild. After a heavy breakfast, we load the cruiser with a packed picnic lunch and disappear into the reserve for the entire day. We will explore the winding riverbanks, the deep acacia woodlands, and the vast, open plains in search of the Big Five. At midday, we will find a scenic spot near the Mara River to enjoy your lunch in the wild, watching out for massive crocodiles and pods of grunting hippos in the water below.

Enjoy one last leisurely breakfast at camp, soaking in the sights and sounds of the wilderness. We check out and begin our scenic drive back up the Rift Valley escarpment toward Nairobi, enjoying a packed lunch en route. You will arrive in the bustling capital in the late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your journey home, carrying memories of an extraordinary Kenyan adventure.
