Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south towards Amboseli National Park, watching the habitats transition from highland to savannah. Arrive at Amboseli Simba Camp in time for lunch. The afternoon is dedicated to your first game drive and birding session. Keep your binoculars ready for waterbirds around the swamps, including Kingfishers, Pelicans, and the African Fish Eagle, all set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Wake up early for a morning game drive when the air is crisp and bird activity is high. Amboseli is home to over 400 bird species. After breakfast, check out and journey to Tsavo East National Park, a vast wilderness known for its red soil and arid-adapted wildlife. After lunch, head out on a game drive to spot the Golden-breasted Starling, Somali Ostrich, and Vulturine Guineafowl, alongside the famous “Red Elephants” of Tsavo.

Spend a full day exploring the diverse habitats of Tsavo East. Start with an early morning drive to catch the sunrise and active predators. The Aruba Dam area is particularly rewarding for spotting waterbirds and thirsty mammals.

Leave the savannah behind and drive towards the coast to the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, the largest remaining fragment of coastal forest in East Africa. This area is critical for bird conservation, home to six globally threatened bird species, including the tiny Sokoke Scops Owl.

Dedicate the morning to deep forest birdwatching. Arabuko Sokoke is the only place to see the rare Clarke’s Weaver and the Sokoke Pipit. The forest also hosts the Golden-rumped Elephant Shrew.
