Overview
A 9-day Kenya photography safari that follows the light from the northern wilderness of Samburu to the Aberdare forests, Lake Naivasha and the Maasai Mara. With extra time at sightings and early-morning and late-afternoon game drives, it is built for travellers who want strong wildlife images, from Samburu's rare northern species to the Big Five in the Mara.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi
You arrive in Nairobi and check-in at your hotel, then rest and relax or explore the city. Then you have dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
You depart Nairobi and drive to Samburu. After checking in at Samburu Sopa Lodge and having lunch, you go on an afternoon game drive to explore the reserve. Dinner and the night are at Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Day 3: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve
You go on an early morning game drive to explore the reserve and photograph wildlife. Then you have leisure time at the lodge. Later you go on an afternoon game drive to explore the reserve and photograph wildlife. Dinner and the night are at Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Day 4: Samburu National Reserve – Aberdare National Park
You check out and drive to Aberdare National Park. After checking in at The Ark Tree Lodge and having lunch, you go on an afternoon game drive to explore the park and photograph wildlife. Dinner and the night are at The Ark Tree Lodge.
Day 5: Aberdare National Park – Lake Naivasha
You check out and drive to Lake Naivasha. After checking in at your Lake Naivasha lodge and having lunch, you enjoy an afternoon boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Dinner and the night are at the lodge.
Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Maasai Mara National Reserve
You check out and drive to Maasai Mara, then stop en route at Narok town for lunch. After checking in at Mara Sopa Lodge and having lunch, you go on an afternoon game drive to explore the reserve. Dinner and the night are at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 7: Full Day in Maasai Mara
You go on an early morning game drive to explore the reserve and photograph wildlife. Then you have a picnic lunch in the reserve. Later you go on a full-day game drive to explore the reserve and see wildlife. Dinner and the night are at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 8: Exploring Maasai Mara
You go on an early morning game drive to explore the reserve and photograph wildlife. Then you have leisure time at the lodge or optional activities. Later you go on an afternoon game drive to explore the reserve and photograph wildlife. Dinner and the night are at Mara Sopa Lodge.
Day 9: Return to Nairobi
After breakfast and check-out, you drive back to Nairobi. You are dropped off at your hotel/pick-up location/airport.
