Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park Depart Nairobi and arrive at Amboseli National Park. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at your lodge. Head out for a sunset game drive, focusing on capturing the iconic elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. The soft evening light is perfect for dramatic shots. Use this time to capture the beautiful landscapes and wildlife in the warm, golden light. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Penety Resort.
Days 2-3: Amboseli National Park Wake up early to capture the sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro. The early morning light is ideal for photographing elephants, lions, and other wildlife. Amboseli is known for its large herds of elephants. Visit Observation Hill for panoramic views of the park, offering great opportunities for landscape photography. Explore the central wetlands to photograph hippos, buffaloes, and other wild animals. If interested, visit a nearby Maasai village to capture portraits and daily life scenes. Head out for another game drive to capture wildlife in the soft, golden light of the late afternoon.
Day 4: Amboseli National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park Depart Amboseli and head to Lake Nakuru National Park. Check in and have lunch. Head to Lion Hill for panoramic views of the lake and surrounding landscapes. Take a walk along the lake shore, using a telephoto lens to capture birds in flight or perched on trees. Spot the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffes, known for their unique patterns, and photograph them browsing the acacia trees. Lake Nakuru is also an excellent place to photograph White Rhinos grazing in the open grasslands. Dinner and overnight at Eagle Palace Hotel.
Day 5-6: Maasai Mara National Reserve Depart Lake Nakuru and head to the Great Maasai Mara National Reserve. Check in and have lunch. Visit a Maasai village to capture portraits and daily life scenes. Head out for a sunset game drive to capture dramatic landscapes and wildlife. Focus on larger animals near water sources as they come out to drink.
Early morning game drives offer opportunities to capture lions, leopards, and cheetahs in action. Consider a hot air balloon safari for aerial shots of the Mara. Capture herds of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes grazing, and focus on smaller details. Take a break to avoid the midday heat and review your morning shots.
