10 DAYS MID-RANGE CULTURAL TOURS PACKAGE

Over the next days, you’ll discover the traditions, cuisines, and communities that make Kenya a unique and captivating destination. You’ll explore Lake Nakuru, delve into Maasai traditions in Amboseli, or savor the coastal flavors of Diani Beach. This trip promises memories that will last a lifetime.

DAY 01: NAIROBI

Arrive and settle into your hotel. Visit the Nairobi National Museum to explore early human history and Stone Age tools. Learn about Kenya’s diverse mammal species and discover the history of Kenya’s different communities and the struggle for independence. Proceed to the Bomas of Kenya, watching traditional music and dance performances from various Kenyan tribes. Visit the different homesteads built using traditional architectural rural styles. Enjoy a meal at the restaurant serving traditional Kenyan cuisine. Shop for handicrafts and souvenirs made by local artisans. You can also visit the Karen Blixen Museum and explore the restored farmhouse where Karen Blixen lived. Take a walk in the beautiful gardens and nature trail. See furniture, photographs, and other items from Karen Blixen’s time. Enjoy dinner featuring Kenyan cuisine, including Nyama Choma (grilled meat).

DAY 02: NAIROBI – LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for approximately 3-4 hours. Check-in at your lodge and have lunch. Visit a local Kikuyu village to learn about the Kikuyu way of life, their traditions, and daily activities. Watch traditional Kikuyu dance and music performances. Enjoy a meal with the Kikuyu people, experiencing their cuisine and hospitality. Try dishes like mukimo (mashed potatoes with greens) and githeri (a mix of maize and beans). Visit a local market to purchase handmade crafts and souvenirs, such as beadwork, carvings, and traditional clothing. Engage in an evening of storytelling, listening to Kikuyu folklore and tales passed down through generations. Return to your lodge for a farewell dinner, reflecting on your cultural and wildlife experiences.

DAY 03: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK – AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Drive from Nakuru to Amboseli National Park. Check-in at your lodge, settle in, and have lunch upon arrival. Visit Observation Hill and take in the scenic views of the park and Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend the afternoon spotting some of the 400 bird species, including flamingos, pelicans, and eagles. Experience a sunset game drive to see animals and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the park. Enjoy a traditional Kenyan meal at the lodge.

DAY 04: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early and have breakfast. Visit a Maasai Village to learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life. Watch traditional Maasai dance and music performances. Enjoy a meal with the Maasai community, experiencing their cuisine and hospitality. Visit a local market to purchase handmade crafts and souvenirs such as beadwork, carvings, and traditional clothing. Engage in an evening of storytelling, listening to Maasai folklore and tales passed down through generations. Return to your lodge for a farewell dinner, reflecting on your cultural and wildlife experiences.

DAY 05: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK– TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK

Wake up early and head to Tsavo West National Park after breakfast. Check-in at your lodge and settle in. Explore the Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water flows from the Chyulu Hills. Observe hippos and crocodiles from an underground lookout. Enjoy a meal at the lodge, featuring local Kenyan cuisine. Watch traditional music and dance performances by local performers, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the area. Experience a sunset game drive to see the park’s wildlife, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, and zebras. Enjoy a traditional Kenyan meal. You can also visit the curio shop at the lodge to purchase traditional clothing and handmade crafts.

DAY 06: TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK-TAITA HILLS SANCTUARY

Depart from Tsavo and drive to Taita Hills. Check-in at your lodge, have lunch, and explore local attractions. Spend the afternoon exploring the World War I Museum at the Taita Hills Safari Resort. Learn about the historical significance of the area during the war and see the memorabilia on display. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the resort’s restaurant, which offers a variety of Pan-African, Pan-European, and Pan-Asian dishes. Watch traditional Taita music and dance performances. Experience the vibrant Mwazindika dance, a unique cultural treasure of the Taita people. End your day with a bush dinner at one of the designated venues within the sanctuary. DAY 07: TAITA HILLS SANCTUARY– DIANI BEACH

Drive to Diani Beach for about 3-4 hours. Arrive and check into your accommodation. Visit the Colobus Conservation Center. Learn about the conservation efforts to protect the endangered Colobus monkeys and other wildlife. Take a guided tour of the center to see the monkeys up close and learn about their habitat and behavior.

DAY 08: DIANI BEACH

Visit the Kenya Kinondo Sacred Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the local culture and traditions of the Mijikenda people who have preserved this forest for centuries. Take a guided walk through the forest, learning about the medicinal plants and the spiritual significance of the forest. Spend the afternoon exploring the Diani Beach Art Gallery. DAY 09: DIANI

Spend the morning at Bora Wildlife Park. Observe a variety of exotic animals and learn about their conservation. Take a guided safari through the park, spotting wildlife and learning about their natural habitats. Take a boat trip to Funzi Island, relax on the beach, and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery. Have a picnic lunch on the Island, enjoying the fresh sea breeze and the tranquil atmosphere with local seafood delicacies. Explore the Kongo Mosque, a beautiful and historic mosque in the area. Participate in a cooking class to learn how to prepare traditional Swahili dishes such as biryani, pilau, and coconut fish curry. This hands-on experience will give you insight into the local flavors and cooking techniques. Enjoy the dishes you’ve prepared during the cooking class or have dinner at a local restaurant renowned for its Swahili cuisine. Savor the rich and diverse flavors of the coastal cuisine.

DAY 10: DIANI – NAIROBI

Enjoy your morning breakfast, check out, and be transferred to Ukunda airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi.
