9 DAY BIRD WATCHING SAFARI
Visit the world famous Bird Sanctuaries of the Great Rift Valley Lake Bogoria, Lake Naivasha and Nakuru, then South over the Mau Escarpment to Kenya’s greatest concentration of game – Masai Mara home to the Big 5 as well as the annual wildebeest migration in July-October).
1.NAIROBI-LAKE BOGORIA NATIONAL RESERVE
Depart Nairobi in the early morning stopping enroute to view the spectacular Great Rift Valley from the escarpment looking out for Mt Suswa and Longonot in the far distance. We arrive in time for lunch at the resort followed by a relaxation by the pool.
This small saline Lake Bogoria is home to various birds and depending on the time of year numerous Lesser and Greater Flamingos; a wonderful sight of pink which you can enjoy walking along the shores..
There is the option to visit a Pokot village to get an insight into their traditional way of life (extra cost).
About half of the Pokot are semi nomadic and semi pastoralists. They herd cattle, sheep and goats relying on their products to sustain their livelihoods.

2.LAKE BOGORIA NATIONAL RESERVE
Full day exploring lake Bogoria, well known by many avid Ornithologist as mecca for Birds, with 500 species of birds having been recorded. Explore this area with field Birding around Lake Baringo, and its environs, the Cliffs and the bushes. There are possibilities to see rare species like, Cape Eagle Owl, White-faced Scops Owl, Jackson’s Hornbill, Hemprich’s Hornbill, Brown-Tailed Rock Chat, Nothern Red Bishop, Northern Masked Weaver and White Billed Buffalo Weaver, Olivaceous Warbler, Northern brownbul, Jackson’s golden backed weaver, Little weaver, Brown Tailed Rock Chat, Goliath heron, Northern Shoveller, Verreauxs eagle owl, Bristle crowned starling, Senegal Thicknee, Pygmy falcon, Blue cheecked bee-eater.

3.LAKE BOGORIA NATIONAL RESERVE-LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, depart for Nakuru National Park which covers 180 sq km and is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and the park has also retained its reputation as a bird watchers’ delight with more than 400 species of bird found here.
Arrive in time for lunch and in the afternoon embark on a game drive

4.LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
Early morning game drive of Lake Nakuru. You can never have enough of this beautiful area. There is a part of the movie “Out of Africa” shot here due to its panoramic views.

We set off for an afternoon game drive in the park. It is a beautiful jewel on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, home to some 450 bird species including both the greater and lesser flamingoes for which it is world famous, and houses the big five save for elephant

5.LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK-MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Early breakfast and depart and we proceed to towards Narok town. We make a stop for lunch en route and arrive Masai Mara in the late afternoon. We arrive at the camp and relax by the pool. Birdwatching in the Masai Mara isn’t for the birds. With almost 500 bird species and a daunting 47 species of birds of prey, the Masai Mara’s treetops, bushes and skies are a feast for birdwatcher’s eyes. Size wise these savannah birds range from freakishly large, such as the world’s largest bird the ostrich, to teeny tiny sunbirds – hard to spot with the naked eye.
Later you may enjoy a guided nature or bird walk in the vicinity of the camp grounds.

6.FULL DAY IN MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Early morning and late afternoon game drives returning to the camp for lunch. Masai Mara game drives are rewarding all year round. It is common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal as well as cheetahs and leopards which are harder to spot. There are various optional activities offered outside of game drives for an extra cost. For example; balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains and the wildlife after which you come back down for a beautiful breakfast. A cultural village visit is also recommended.

7.MAASAI MARA RESERVE – LAKE NAIVASHA
Early breakfast before departing back towards Nairobi. Before departure there is the option to enjoy a nature walk in the company of a Masai safari guide. This is the best way of getting closer to nature and its wildlife. Your safari guide armed with traditional Masai spear and club will walk you through the local area where all your senses will be put into action at every step. Smell the plants used in traditional medicines, taste some of the edible wild fruits, listen to the birds and the grunting of the Impala, identify footprints and animal spoor. We will depart for Lake Naivasha after checking out. Lake Naivasha is the only fresh water lake without a physical outlet in Kenya. It’s freshness is maintained by a combination of underground out flow and sedimentation of salts. The lake supports a diverse water-bird community, with more than 80 species recorded regularly. It is a significant site for Red knobbed coots, African spoonbill, African jacana and little grebes depending on water levels.

Day 8: RETURN TO NAIROBI
After breakfast, you will check out and enjoy an en-route game drive as you exit the park. You will return to Nairobi in time for your onward flight.
