Itinerary

DAY 01: NAIROBI-AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel or airport and embark on a 5-hour drive to Amboseli National Park. You will have a stopover at Emali Souvenirs Shop and later proceed to Amboseli. Arrive early afternoon, check in, have lunch, and enjoy some leisure time in the camp. You will embark on an afternoon drive which is the best preferred time for viewing until sunset. Amboseli National Park is famous for its scenic beauty against the backdrop of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, which rightfully dominates the landscape and open plains as Africa’s tallest mountain. There are more than 600 species of birds in the park therefore making it a good birding destination.

DAY 2: EXPLORE AMBOSELI PARK

You’ll rise up early in the morning for breakfast before leaving for a drive while enjoying the good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. The swamps are great for waterbirds such as egrets, herons, pelicans and crowned cranes. Large numbers of flamingos may be present in the two rainy seasons (March to May and November to December). Grassland areas offer some interesting ground birds such as Hartlaub’s bustard and the localized Pangani longclaw. The park’s acacia woodland holds some dry-country specials such as steel-blue whydah, white-bellied go-away bird and Von der Decken’s hornbill.

DAY 3: AMBOSELI – TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will depart the camp for Tsavo West park which is a 4 hours journey. You will arrive in time for lunch and check. Tsavo East National Park has an impressive checklist of more than 500 bird species. It has many dry-country specials that can be easy to spot, including the magnificent golden-breasted starling, golden pipit and vulturine guineafowl. The park is also the southernmost stronghold for the Somali ostrich. The park’s huge area is a significant wintering ground for migrant species from Europe. Migrant birds are present from November to April. You will check in early in the afternoon and have lunch and head out for a drive to enjoy the park’s birds and serene.

DAY 4: TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK

You’ll enjoy an early breakfast before leaving for your drive.  At noon you will return to the camp for lunch and leisure. Some of the expected  birds to see in the park include; African finfoot,Black –faced sandgrouse, Fischer’s starling, Golden pipit, Golden –breasted starling, Lesser krestel,Martial eagle, Northern brownbul,Pangani longclaw,Red –bellied parrot, Rufous chatterer,Secretaruy bird, Shelley’s starling, Slender –tailed nightjar, Somali bee –eater, Somali bunting, Taita falcon, Taita fiscal, Vulturine guineafowl among many others.

DAY 5: TSAVO EAST – ARABUKO SOKOKE RESERVE

 We shall depart the camp after breakfast and check out heading towards Watamu to Arabuko Sokoke Forest. It is the largest remnant of the East African Coastal Forest. We have some birds species rarely seen that is the Kenyan endemic Clarke’s Weaver among the rich diversity of other bird species. These may include near endemic Amani Sunbird, Sokoke Pipit & Malindi Pipit, East Coast Akalat, Scaly Babbler, Mombasa Woodpecker. Other birds may include Little Yellow Flycatcher, a localized Collared Palm Thrush, Four-coulored Bushshrike, Fischer’s Turaco, Mangrove Kingfisher, Scaly-throated & Pallid Honeyguides, Eastern Green Tinkerbird & Green Barbet, Mombasa & Green-backed Woodpecker amongst many others.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 6: ARABUKO SOKOKE

You’ll leave for the forest early in the morning after breakfast for easy birding. The following are the birds Species that we hope to spot while in the forest; Sokoke scops owl, Amani sunbird, East Coast Akalat, Sokoke Pipit, Malindi Pipit, tiny greenbul, gorgeous bushshrike, scaly-throated honeyguide, Forest Batis, Eastern green tinkerbird, Peters’ twinspot, pale Batis, plain-backed sunbird, Amani sunbird, Narina Trogon, little-yellow flycatcher, and blue-mantled crested flycatcher, bat hawk, tiny greenbul, Fischer’s greenbul.

Return to the hotel for Lunch, Dinner and overnight.

DAY 7. RETURN TO NAIROBI

After breakfast, you will check out and you will return to Nairobi in time for your onward flight by either road transport /flight/ Sgr.
