This itinerary offers a mix of wildlife viewing, cultural experiences and relaxation, making it a well-rounded safari adventure. You’ll have a chance to visit Kariandusi Prehistoric Site to have a glimpse into the distant past and the early stages of human development.
DAY 01: NAIROBI – AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
You’ll be picked from the airport or your choice of accommodation and transferred to Wilson Airport for your flight to Amboseli Airstrip. After landing at the airstrip you will be met by our driver guide who will transport you to your hotel. Check in and have lunch. Embark on your first game drive to spot elephants, lions, cheetahs and other wildlife against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli National Park is renowned for its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its diverse wildlife which includes, large herds of elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, lions, cheetahs and leopards. The park has recorded over 400 bird species including kingfishers, pelicans, and the endangered Malagasy Pond Heron. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Penety Resort.
DAY 02: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Early morning game drive to catch the sunrise and observe wildlife when they are most active. Visit a Maasai village to learn about their culture and traditions. Visit the Observation Hill [Normatior], a pyramid-shaped hill which provides panoramic views of the park, including swamps and herds of elephants. The hill is ideal for photography and birdwatching. Proceed for an evening game drive or enjoy the sunset views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Dinner and overnight at your resort.
DAY 03: AMBOSELI – LAKE ELEMENTAITA
Depart from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport and fly to the Naivasha Loldia. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your camp by our driver guide. Check in and enjoy lunch at Lake Elementaita Serena Camp. Take a guided nature walk along the shores of Lake Elementaita, known for its rich birdlife including flamingos and pelicans. Relax and watch the sunset over the lake in the evening. Enjoy a bush dinner under the stars.
DAY 04: LAKE ELEMENTATITA
Start your day with a bird-watching session. Lake Elementaita is home to over 400 bird species. Head out for a game drive in the nearby Soysambu Conservancy to spot giraffes, elands, zebras and possibly leopards. In the afternoon, proceed to Kikopey Hot Springs situated along the shores of Lake Elementaita. The area around the hot spring is rich in birdlife, including flamingos, pelicans and other waterfowl, making it a great spot for birdwatching. Take a boat ride on the lake to get closer to the birdlife and possibly see hippos. Visit the Kariandusi Prehistoric Site to learn about early human history in the region. Kariandusi is famous for its large collection of Acheulean hand axes made from obsidian and lava-based materials. These tools are significant as they represent some of the earliest known examples of sophisticated tool-making by early humans, likely Homo erectus. Unwind at your camp, enjoying the serene environment and perhaps a campfire barbecue.
DAY 05: LAKE ELEMENTATITA – NAIROBI
Enjoy a final nature walk or bird-watching session. Have breakfast at the camp. Transfer to Naivasha Loldia for your flight back to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. End of safari.
