Itinerary

DAY 01: NAIROBI

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on your Emirates flight. You will be transferred to the Sarova Stanley Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 02: OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY

After breakfast at the Sarova Stanley Hotel, you will drive north towards the town of Thika, passing through Sagana, Karatina, and Naromoru (meaning “volcanic ash” in the Maasai language) before reaching Nanyuki for a rest stop.

Along the way, you’ll see pineapple and coffee plantations and various types of mixed farming. The local community in this region is primarily Kikuyu, Kenya’s largest tribe, well known for their success in agriculture and trade. From Nanyuki, you may be able to spot Mt. Kenya, the second-highest mountain in Africa at 5,198 meters above sea level, to the left on a clear day.

We will take a dirt road for 15 km to reach the Rongai Gate and access Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Lunch will be at SWTC. Afterward, you will have leisure time, during which you may enjoy swimming and other activities available at the hotel.

In the afternoon, we will embark on a game drive through Ol Pejeta Conservancy, famous for Moran, the tame rhino who died of natural causes in 2016.

The conservancy is home to the Big Five, along with both Burchell’s and Grevy’s zebras, as well as reticulated and Maasai giraffes.

We will also visit the chimpanzee sanctuary, where a troop of over 30 chimps, many rescued from forests in western and central Africa, have been rehabilitated.

DAY 03: FULL DAY IN OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY

We begin with a morning game drive in search of wildlife. Early morning drives may yield sightings of lions and other carnivores hunting.

Ol Pejeta is home to over 300 bird species, as well as a wide variety of trees and shrubs.

Afterward, we return to the lodge for breakfast. The rest of the morning is at your leisure to enjoy the excellent facilities at SWTC.

Lunch will be served, followed by more leisure time.

In the afternoon, we will embark on another game drive through the beautiful and magnificent Ol Pejeta Conservancy, with a visit to its wildlife museum.

Dinner and overnight at SWTC.

DAY 04: MOUNT KENYA SAFARI CLUB

We will start the day with an early morning game drive in search of the Somali and Maasai ostriches, among other plains game for which this area is famous.

After breakfast, we depart for the nearby Mount Kenya Safari Club. Set on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the club has hosted many notable figures, including wildlife enthusiasts and celebrities such as William Holden, who once owned it.

Lunch will be at your leisure. We do not conduct game drives in Mount Kenya due to the dense forest surrounding the area. However, you can enjoy other activities such as horse riding, guided nature walks, or visiting the club’s unique zigzagging puzzle garden, where many weddings are held.

This property has been voted the 8th best resort in the world.

Dinner and overnight at Mount Kenya Safari Club.

DAY 05: ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will drive southwest, passing through the towns of Naromoru and Chaka, before arriving at Aberdares Country Club for lunch. This property sits at the edge of Aberdares National Park, named after Sir Aberdare, a former president of the Royal Geographical Society. Please pack only an overnight bag for the stay at The Ark.

After lunch, we will be transferred to The Ark by the lodge shuttle. The Ark is built on raised stilts in the shape of the biblical Noah’s Ark, offering excellent views of wildlife from the comfort of your balcony. There are several viewing decks and an underground tunnel for a close and safe observation of animals as they visit a nearby waterhole.

Although no game drives are conducted here, the views and tranquility of the area are unforgettable.

Dinner and overnight at The Ark.

DAY 06: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we will continue through open plains, with the Aberdares and Mount Kenya on either side, to Nyahururu town (formerly known as Thomson’s Falls, named after the early explorer). Here, you can take photos of the stunning waterfall, which drops 96 meters.

We then proceed north to Lake Nakuru National Park.

Lunch at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. Afterward, enjoy some leisure time.

We will set off for an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru, located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, is home to some 450 bird species, including both greater and lesser flamingos, and houses four of the Big Five (excluding elephants).

Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

DAY 07: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Afterward, breakfast and leisure time.

In the afternoon, we embark on another game drive to search for any animals we may have missed earlier.

Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

DAY 08: LAKE NAIVASHA

After breakfast, we will drive southwest through the towns of Gilgil and Naivasha to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake that has contributed to Kenya’s thriving flower industry. Kenya is now one of the world’s leading exporters of cut flowers to the European Union. Large-scale horticulture is also practiced here.

Lunch at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge. Afterward, enjoy some leisure time.

We will take a glass-bottomed boat ride on Lake Naivasha, leading to Crescent Island, home to impala, zebra, gazelle, giraffe, and other wildlife. You might also spot snorting hippos in the lake.

Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge.

DAY 09: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

Dinner and overnight at Olonana Camp.

DAY 10: FULL DAY IN MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

We begin the day with a hot air balloon ride over the Mara, offering stunning aerial views of the landscape and wildlife. The flight will be followed by a champagne breakfast.

You may also enjoy nature walks, trekking, or attending cultural lectures.

Lunch at Olonana Camp.

In the afternoon, we will visit a local Maasai village to experience Maasai culture firsthand, followed by a game drive through the reserve.

Dinner and overnight at Olonana Camp.

DAY 11: MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

On our final day in the Maasai Mara, we will visit the Mara River, where the dramatic wildebeest migration takes place. Millions of wildebeest, zebras, and giraffes cross the crocodile-infested river in search of greener pastures.

After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time.

Lunch at Olonana Camp.

Our final game drive will give us one last opportunity to spot any wildlife we may have missed during our stay.

Dinner and overnight at Olonana Camp.

DAY 12: NAIROBI
