The park, established in 1961, surrounds the picturesque Lake Nakuru, which is famous for its large population of flamingos that create a stunning pink hue along the shores. The park’s diverse ecosystem includes woodlands, grasslands, and acacia forests, providing a habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.
Apart from flamingos, Lake Nakuru National Park is home to numerous bird species, making it a haven for birdwatchers. The park also hosts a thriving population of white rhinoceros, as well as other mammals like lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks. Visitors can enjoy game drives, guided walks, and birdwatching safaris while taking in the breath-taking scenery of the lake and surrounding landscapes. With almost 500 bird species and a daunting 47 species of birds of prey, the Masai Mara’s treetops, bushes and skies are a feast for birdwatcher’s eyes. There are various optional activities offered outside of game drives for an extra cost. For example; balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains and the wildlife after which you come back down for a beautiful breakfast. A cultural village visit is also recommended.

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve – Lake Naivasha
Early breakfast before departing back towards Nairobi. Before departure there is the option to enjoy a nature walk in the company of a Masai safari guide. This is the best way of getting closer to nature and its wildlife. Your safari guide armed with traditional Masai spear and club will walk you through the local area where all your senses will be put into action at every step. Smell the plants used in traditional medicines, taste some of the edible wild fruits, listen to the birds and the grunting of the Impala, identify footprints and animal spoor. We will depart for Lake Naivasha after checking out. Lake Naivasha is the only fresh water lake without a physical outlet in Kenya. It’s freshness is maintained by a combination of underground out flow and sedimentation of salts. The lake supports a diverse water-bird community, with more than 80 species recorded regularly. It is a significant site for Red knobbed coots, African spoonbill, African jacana and little grebes depending on water levels.
Dinner and overnight stay at Naivasha Simba.
Day 8: Lake Naivasha National Park – Amboseli
You will have an early morning drive to Amboseli National Park. You will check in at your accommodation and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a game drive. Amboseli National Park is situated due south of Nairobi. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland. In the southern area, there are a number of small, rocky volcanic hills. The park is known as the best place to view large herds of elephants up close. There is an immense view of Mount Kilimanjaro which is across the border of Kenya and Tanzania. It is also dominated by vast Lake Amboseli which is dry outside the rainy season. There are more than 600 species of birds in the park.
Lunch, dinner and overnight at Sentrim Amboseli camp.
Day 9: Explore Amboseli
You’ll rise up early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit with a packed lunch provided. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Left carefree, elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps must form the highlights of any safari.
